Grace Paley
Grace Paley grew up amidst the vivid life of immigrant New York. She had little formal education - she was too busy writing poetry and reading to finish school - and began to write fiction in the 1950s. She devoted much energy to the anti-war movements, particularly Vietnam. She died in August 2007.
