Wendy Gorton holds a master's degree in learning technologies and is a former classroom teacher. As part of her quest to bring science education alive, she worked as a National Geographic Fellow in Australia researching Tasmanian devils, a PolarTREC teacher researcher in archaeology in Alaska, an Earthwatch teacher fellow in the Bahamas and New Orleans, and a GoNorth! teacher explorer studying climate change via dogsled in Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Today, she is a global education consultant who has traveled to more than fifty countries to design programs, build communities, and inspire other educators to do the same.

Nina Palmo is a sociologist, university lecturer, and outdoor enthusiast. She spent her childhood in Finland and Michigan before making her way to Texas. Her favourite childhood memories include ice skating on frozen ponds during Finnish winters and taking camping road trips with her extended family across the United States. She now lives in the Austin, Texas area with her husband, two daughters, and an adventure dog. As a family, they believe that a good education means developing a sense of curiosity, wonder, and connection with the world around you, and that nature is the perfect place to make this happen. They love to hike, camp, and explore the natural beauty of Texas and beyond. Follow Nina on social media @raisingwildflowerkids.
