Ruth Starke

Ruth Starke worked in public relations and travel marketing before turning to fiction writing in 1992. Since then she has published many books for young people, including the award-winning THE TWIST IN THE TALE. She is also the co-editor of Solo Spots, a collection of drama monologues for senior students (OUP, 1998) and an entertaining history of Adelaide Writers Week, WRITERS, READERS AND REBELS. Ruth lives in Adelaide where she teaches English at Flinders University and creative writing at TAFE. She is a past Chair of the SA Writers Centre and has a keen interest in young people s literature. She writes and reviews for Australian Book Review and Viewpoint on Books for Young Adults, and has been a Judge of the National Festival Awards for Children s Literature since 1995.
